Colorado Mesa University – Energy Metering

Iconergy was selected to provide Energy Master Planning Services for Colorado Mesa University. The scope included evaluation of campus wide energy efficiency and opportunities for improvements and cost reductions. The campus operates their electric distribution system for the core campus and Iconergy evaluated the opportunities and recommendations for renewables and other utility metering strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Iconergy completed comprehensive benchmarking on their utility data and evaluated rate and purchase options and provided turnkey installation for a campus wide sub metering system that included gas and electric meters. In addition, Iconergy evaluated solar PV opportunities for on building distributed generation and a 2MW off site system connected directly to the utility distribution system and submitted the system for utility approval. One immediate outcome of the Master Plan was to provide sub-metering information for facilities throughout the university’s portfolio. Iconergy designed and installed a sub-metering system that allowed the university to have visibility at both the building level and within buildings (e.g. spaces leased by concessionaires) for the first time, which then allowed for controls optimization.

New Belgium Brewing Company

The New Belgium Brewery is a nearly 200,000 square foot large campus dedicated to brewing beer and includes administrative offices, tasting room, brewing spaces, a bottling building, and a process water treatment facility. Iconergy performed retro-commissioning of the company’s facilities and identified numerous measures to save energy and improve operations. The overall project had less than a one year payback, providing an outstanding return on investment to New Belgium. New Belgium continues to provide ongoing commissioning and data analytics via monitoring-based commissioning using SkySpark and energy management information system (EMIS) integrations.

Clear Creek County – Countywide Retrofits

Iconergy partnered with Clear Creek County to develop and utilize an energy performance contract to optimize the performance of all of the County's facilities. Total estimated annual savings are roughly 36% of the baseline electric consumption, 16% of the baseline electric demand, and 25% of the baseline natural gas use. The total verified annual savings are over-performing the County's EPC guarantee, and are approaching $70,000 a year, or more than 20% of the baseline facility utility costs. Solar photovoltaic panels were analyzed at all Clear Creek County facilities.  The County selected four smaller sites to receive solar panels.  One site was in a historic district and could not be outfitted with solar but the other three sites were, totaling 35kW.

City of Fort Collins, Mulberry Pool

Iconergy participated in the Platte River Power Authority (PRPA) Building Tune-Up program to provide retro-commissioning and monitoring-based commissioning services for the Mulberry Pool. The 25,000 square foot facility houses an indoor pool and spa, locker rooms, and community recreation spaces. In 2021, Iconergy completed retro-commissioning services for an HVAC and control system evaluation. The goal of this project is to investigate the design and operation of the natatorium space and provide an analysis that isolates the air from the natatorium so that it does not reach other parts of the building that are not designed for that type of air quality.
